Girlfriend went to pick up food. I was not there, but the Chinese guy tried to make small talk with my girlfriend hitting on her like a piggish guy. My girlfriend left the restaurant after receiving her food. The Chinese guy ran out of the restaurant to tell her that he would like to talk again whenever she comes by again. FYI she has a boyfriend. 1/5

Their food made my wife and me sick. Like, actually vomiting, queasy for a day, sick. We tried the couldn't-be-more-inappropriately-named Happiness for the first time because they're right down the street from us. BIG MISTAKE. The order arrived quickly, but the taste and quality of the food was off - it didn't taste rotten, just like Chinese food out of a can from the supermarket. The General Tso's Chicken was more like sweet and sour chicken, although the breading was soggy. We also got Kung Po Chicken and a shrimp with vegetables dish. It was so bad we didn't eat much of it and threw the leftovers away. That night we were both up with stomach aches, and felt sick for the next day (and even into a day after that). You have been warned.

This is my go-to Chinese delivery food location. Their prices are very fair for the large portion sizes, you can order online on Grubhub, and delivery to Oak Park is very fast (always been less than 1hr). The food is plenty hot when it arrives. I cannot speak to the restaurant itself, as I have never been there. The food is definitely not authentic by any stretch - very americanized so keep that in mind. They definitely have good dishes and less good dishes. We prefer the green bean chicken and the egg rolls. Have tried other dishes that were very bland, so choose wisely. The chicken is all thinly slice breast meat pieces, which is nice. You can avoid all the gnarly bits of chicken that you get from many other Chinese restaurants. There is basically no control over the spice level. We always order "very spicy" but only once has the flavor had any spice whatsoever. This can get very frustrating for people who like spicy food. That being said, if you want cheap and fast Chinese food then this is a good choice.

Good Chinese food at a low price and good portions! They have good lunch values. The egg rolls taste too much like peanut butter for me. They're fried shrimp are big and tasty. The lunch specials come with shrimp fried rice, which is rare for most places. I love the rice. I like spicy food, and they always give me hot sauce and make it spicier when I ask for it.

I ordered Chinese takeout all for myself and it all tastes like shit. I spent $25!! the Orange chicken was soggy, the rice tastes like plastic and the potstickers smell rotten and the rangoons cream cheese is cold on the inside. How can it be fried on the outside but cold on the inside??!! Most disgusting food in my life. Would give it a negative rating if I could.

This was my first time trying this place and it was very good. The portions are huge and delicious for their affordable prices. I got the sesame chicken and sweet and sour chicken. My only complaint was the sesame chicken was a bit too spicy for me. I've never had spicy sesame chicken before and I've been eating this same dish at Chinese restaurants my whole life. I would suggest telling them your spice level tolerance if you order. They also packaged everything so nicely for delivery, sometimes it's the little things that make a difference.

I've only ordered once from this place, but I have nothing good to say about the food. It may have been an off night for them, but it doesn't seem that way.

Quick delivery of large portions of hot food. Can't say I was super impressed by the flavors, though. Pretty bland. My wife got the yang something fried rice and I got the four happy day special (the names of the dishes are escaping me at the moment). I asked for spicy and there was no spice at all. Good thing I keep sriracha on hand! Egg rolls were big too and surprising since they had actual meat in them. Tasted like beef. Each take out place has an exceptional dish; I'm just not sure which one it is for this place.

Huge portions full of tasteless food. Ordered mongolian beef, cho mein and orange chicken as well as their combo plate. Ate about 1/3 between the 3 of us, only cause we were starving. So disappointed. You would think fried chicken covered in sugar, orange chicken, would be hard to screw up. But it was nasty. Nasty

A very good Americanized Chinese takeout place. I emphasize Take-out. This is not a dine-in restaurant. Their chicken dishes are made with freshly breaded and fried white meat chicken. I recommend the general.

I ordered here years ago and was rather underwhelmed. Yesterday...I ordered again...because I wanted to give them a second chance. I was happily surprised. We ordered their "Dinner For 2" which is a pretty good value. Crab Rangoon, two eggrolls, wonton soup...and two entrees (mongolian beef and chicken with broccoli)...and beef fried rice. I also ordered stir-fried green beans...because I really love green beans. I should have held off on the green beans because...the portions...are HUGE. Large. Very large. Gigantic. And everything tasted just like it's supposed to. And there was no skimping on the veggies...which was very nice. And it was HOT...temperature hot. And the delivery guy was nice enough to call and tell me he was parking so I could meet him downstairs. Fast delivery...good Chinese-American. Lots of veggies. Will order take out here again. My only complaint was that the Mongolian Beef wasn't remotely spicy...but I kept my bottle of hot sauce handy...and quickly remedied the problem. I actually got a "bonus" dish...not sure if that was intentional...or they made a mistake...but it was a lovely fried chicken sort of thing. I wish I knew what it was...because I'd order it again!

This is our favorite place to order Chinese Delivery from in Oak Park. Their Mongolian Combination is by far my favorite and all their dishes include generous servings, two meals from one dish. Finally, delivery is fast and friendly so why try anyplace else?

I have been going to Happiness for many years and they have great food, a huge menu, fast service and good prices. We usually order the Cantonese Chicken Chow Mein (with the noodles in a separate container). The Chow Mein is very tasty and has tons of meaty chicken, peapods, mushrooms and brocolli. I love the thin soft noodles -- not many places serve these, and I think they are better tasting than those dry hard crunchy noodles. Other great dishes are the General Tao Chicken, Shredded Chicken, Szechwan Brocolli and Egg Drop Soup. The Hot and Sour Soup is good and very thick with mushrooms and tofu, but not spicy enough for me.. In general the so-called "hot" food could be much hotter/spicier, but everything is always flavorful and generous with good ingredients. And they are fast! I always pick up, and everything is usually ready in 10 minutes. Although there are tables, it's not much of a sit-down kind of place.

Since I can remember I've always had Happiness on my speed dial for over 14 years. They have been an extension of my parent's kitchen and now mine. Great thing about Happiness leftover is when you warm up the food, it's still as good as the first time.

Excellent Chinese, the best place to order from in Oak Park. The portions are Enormous - they had to staple the top shut because they had crammed so much pork fried rice into the container it would not come close to closing. We got soup, Pork Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour Chicken, and Beef and Pea Pods. We ate until we were completely full and had not even put a dent in the food. On top of the quantity, they have Quality. The beef and chicken were not your typical mystery cuts from Chinese places. This was clearly good quality meat and incredibly fresh veggies. For 30 bucks you get enough for two dinners and two lunches. You can't beat it.

Had there food a few times. When you're really hungry, there a good place to call because the delivery is fast.

We love this place and order from here all the time. It looks like a total hole-in-the-wall dive, which it kinda is, so we always get take-out. But the food is great. The chicken is WHITE MEAT, not weird questionable grey chicken like some places. And they are big pieces. People who run the place are super nice and there's always good coupons! Definitely a staple in our take-out menu line-up,

Decent Chinese food in Oak Park is hard to find and as such Happiness explains the emotion I have every time I order. It's a rather small restaurant so I recommend delivery which is speedy as can be. Highly recommend any of the fried rice, the pork appetizer, egg rolls, mu-shu pork, beef dish of any type. Veggies are crisp and overall the price is competitive. I've tried most every Chinese restaurant in Oak Park this is one of the better ones and I would highly recommend it.

This dive is worthy of a negative star rating. So, we all know that Chinese food is unhealthy (fried, fatty, carb loaded, MSG...). Let's say you love Chinese food anyways but you want to one day break your bad way. Eat here. After our 1st (and last) experience at Happiness, we may never eat Chinese food again. There was nothing fresh or tasty about our food. We selected the beef lo mein and sesame chicken. The accompanying egg rolls were rubbery, greasy and dead tasting. My kids, who live for Trader Joe's Orange Chicken, put down their forks and asked for something else after one bite of this God-Awful abomination called Sesame Chicken. Even the rice was bad. How can you ruin rice?!? Unhappiness is a more appropriate name.

One reviewer said that they do fish in a billion ways but I really didn't expect my beef with broccoli to taste like fish. The pot stickers tasted like fish. Crab rangoon were overly crisp and greasy but had lots of FISH in them so I suppose that's good.

I wanted to check out a restaurant in Logan Square area for awhile and chose Happiness because of its good reviews. My visit was 3/12/2010 and did not meet my simple expectations: the food was bland. I ordered two main entrees and an appetizer: a vegetable kum pao dish, a shrimp honey and nut dish and a lobster brisque soup. None of these dishes had flavor and they were served at lukewarm temperature. I hate to be critical of a place but even though the the costumer service was average, and the atmosphere appeared busy with happy costumers surrounded by a chic environment -- it left me feeling disappointed and upset that I threw a $50 bill for a meal less than memorable. I would not recommend this place to any one.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
